Poor Ranch is nestled into the hills east of Hopland in Mendocino County. The vineyards are certified organic by the CCOF and dry farmed. The vines are head trained and widely spaced, maintaining a pre-prohibition style of farming. The property has been continuously farmed by the Poor family since they first staked their claim in those hills in the late 1800s, with the current generation of Johnny, Susan, and John Samuel doing all the farming.

Highlawn has made this wine every vintage since 2017.
